With Korean literature garnering worldwide attention these days, there is someone who is taking on more work to fuel this growing interest. It's none other than Charles Montgomery, who took it upon himself to become a "global ambassador for Korean literature" by introducing Korean literary works through his blog, which is visited more than 8,000 times a month by people from 120 different countries. He relocated to Korea 6 years ago after developing a passion for Korean literature, which his close friend introduced him to, and is now teaching English Translation and Interpretation at Dongguk University.

He actively promotes Korean literature, not because of any financial gain, but because he wants to show the world the distinguishing appeal of Korean literature. He explains that Korean books show the trends of the time and reveal how Korea has changed over the years. He says that some of the best aspects of living in Korea is that he has better access to translated versions of Korean literary works and has a chance to meet and have stimulating conversations with Korean writers. In addition to blogging and teaching about Korean literature, he is currently working on a project to create pages for Korean writers on Wikipedia. He decided to embark on this time-consuming project after learning that it was difficult for English speakers to retrieve information online on Korean writers, including the famous Shin Kyung-sook who had been praised by Oprah Winfrey.

Charles Montgomery is introducing Korean literature on his personal blog and Korean writers through Wikipedia. Tune into The INNERview to hear the story of a man whose immense love for Korea stemmed from its literature.
