As a child, Paolo de Maria grew up savoring the recipies of his grandmother and father.
Influenced by such childhood memories, he enrolled in culinary school at the age of 14 and embarked on a culinary journey that would take him from his hometown of Torino, Italy, to France, and many other countries around the world.
In 2004, Paolo came to Korea as Head Chef of the widely known restaurant Buonasera. In 2008, he released his popular book, 'Pasta e Basta', detailing his recipies and philosophies for traditional Italian cooking.
A few years later, Paolo was awarded an honorary Korean citizenship by the mayor of Seoul in 2010 for his efforts to spread Italian food culture and philosophy to the Korean people.
In the same year, Paolo opened his very own restaurant, alongside his wife Genie, in the Soraemaeul district of Seoul called, paolodemaria Fine Trattoria.
