Ask a leader about the strength of convergence
Lee Young-hye, the CEO of Designhouse

On this edition of The INNERview, we sit down with Lee Young-hye, the CEO of Designhouse, who has led new trends in Korean magazines for 41 years, beginning with "monthly [DESIGN]."

She joined the editing team of "monthly [DESIGN]" in 1977, took over the company in 1980 and made it through the media mergence crisis.

"I wrote a letter to the President and told him why such a magazine is needed, said that we can't raise our country's GDP without thinking of design in the manufacturing world in the future. I wrote a long letter and our magazine was the sole one to be revived."

Despite the hardship of printed media, she took on new challenges and gained a solid base of subscribers. She is currently publishing a total of 8 magazines, including "Homeliving&Style."

She believes that "design can change the world" and is holding the Seoul Living Design Festival and the Seoul Design Festival every year. These two events link designers with companies and with consumers.

She is adjusting and changing to the digital era by making investments in Bloter, which is a one-person digital news community.
