Adam Sjoberg, the director of "I Am Sun Mu,” the opening film of the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival

The DMZ International Documentary Film Festival, launched in 2009, celebrated its 7th anniversary this year. It presents domestic and foreign documentary films focusing on conflict and peace. At the 7th DMZ International Documentary Film Festival, which kicked off on September 17, there were screenings of 102 documentary films from 43 countries that touched upon themes that are relevant to the billions of people around the world including dispute and conflict as well as life, peace and communication.

We interviewed Adam Sjoberg, the director of "I Am Sun Mu," the opening film that premiered at the film festival, at Imjingang Station, which is considered the first gateway to the demilitarized zone (DMZ) of Korea. The film centers on an artist who defected from North Korea and uses the pseudonym, "Sun Mu." It's a chronological documentation of the preparation process for his solo exhibition in China.

During the interview, Adam Sjoberg also spoke about his other works including "Shake the Dust" as well as "Danny from North Korea" that delves into the division of Korea. Join us on this week's The INNERview to meet Adam Sjoberg, who shed light on the unique situation of Korea as a divided nation through the eyes of Sun Mu.
