Kim Se-hwang was the first Korean guitarist to be given a signature Yamaha guitar, the first Asian to receive an Honorary Doctorate of Music in Performance from Musicians Institute, and the first musician in the world to play Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" on the electric guitar.
Kim Se-hwang, who has set numerous records as a guitarist, was born to a classical guitarist and a diplomat. He began playing his mother's classical guitar for fun before starting to learn it in more depth in elementary school.
After honing his craft, he made his debut with a rock band called Downtown in 1993 and later gained fame in the mainstream music industry as a member of N.EX.T and Novasonic.
Earlier this year, he became the first Korean musician to be inducted into the Hollywood RockWalk, showcasing his signature guitar alongside other world-class guitarists'. Then in May this year, he became the rare few to hold the MI Honorary Doctorate of Music in Performance. The groundbreaking musician also surprised music enthusiasts from around the world with his phenomenal performance of Vivaldi's "Four Seasons."
