Haemulpajeon & Modeumjeon

The French pair cheese with wine. Germans say sausage goes with beer like peas go with carrots. And what do Koreans pair with makgeolli, the nation's traditional alcoholic beverage? Jeon, or savory Korean pancakes. The varieties are many, including haemulpajeon, which is made with seafood and was once served to kings. Jeon is also an important food for ceremonial tables at ancestral rituals and feasts.

Tasty Trail heads to Busan to taste haemulpajeon, a tasty and nutritious treat made with chives, water parsley and a variety of fresh seafood. Benjamin tries some modeumjeon and bindaeddeok at the farmers' market as well.

We also visit a fortress in Busan to see how makgeolli, originally popular among farmers, is made through the fermentation of a mixture of boiled rice and nuruk with water.
Tune in to learn more about Korea's traditional jeon and makgeolli, a match made in heaven!
