The Himalayas, the Roof of the World.
Both sacred and majestic in all its glory, the Himalayas are a haven for the soul.
But a land where challenge and failure, life and death are clearly divided to mountaineers.
These include the 14 Himalayan peaks that stand more than 8,000m above sea level and very rough, Mount Yulang Kang and Lhotse Shar.
His name is Um Hong-gil.
It's a special place for Capt. Um. He began climbing the formidable mountain range at 26, and after more than two decades he became the first person to climb its 16 highest peaks.
But there was unexpected accident in 1986.
With his sherpa friend buried deep in the mountains and in his heart, Um Hong-gil made a solemn promise to the Himalayas.
"Dear God, if I can just return safely from this climb, I will devote my life to the Himalayas."
And in 2010. Once again, he heads to Nepal, home of the Himalayas to the a promise.
It was a journey they had to see through, no matter how grueling.
We foll his another challenge.
