This Thematic Session by the Ministry of Environment themed “Carbon-Neutral Smart Water Management for Climate Resilience” will share the latest solutions for carbon-neutral smart water management, contributing to enhancing climate resilience and achieving sustainable development. Climate change directly affects water security as it disturbs Earth’s water cycle in a way that increases the severity of water shortage, as well as frequency and intensity of water-related disasters such as flood and drought.
Discussion on the status and trends of smart water management, with a special focus on the applications of innovative technologies to reduce carbon emissions, will provide useful implications in designing better water solutions at national and regional levels.
Good governance is another key factor in carbon-neutral smart water management as it facilitates and catalyzes cooperation among different sectors in a way to maximize synergies. Finance and insurance, which are essential to make innovative water solutions affordable to be deployed, will also be an important topic to be addressed in this Session.
