Produced and aired for more than 600 episodes since 2006, Cultural Canvas is Phoenix TV’s main travel program that has also been aired all over the world on the Chinese-language TV channels. In May, a six-episode series that explored Korean culture and traditions, such as Korean Confucianism and Buddhism, pottery and porcelains, pansori, and traditional Korean medicine, was produced and aired to promote prosperity and collaborations in Northeast Asian cultures. Executive producer and host Wang Luxiang and his five-member production team added depth to the program and shed light on the traditions as well as the ways to develop the culture by visiting Korea and holding in-depth interviews with the experts in various areas of Korean culture: the Great Seon Master Jinje, the Supreme Patriarch of the Jogye Order; Chung Yangmo, the author of Goryeo Celadon and former Director General of National Museum of Korea; Chang Nam-won, Director General of Ewha Womans University Museum; Ryu Chang-hae, the 15th primogeniture descendant of the Ryu Clan at Andong Hahoe Folk Village; Rhew Han-wook, a scholar at Byeongsan Seowon Confucian Academy; Lee Kwang-ho, a former professor of philosophy at Yonsei University and winner of the Zhu Xi Scholarship Award at the Toegye Academic Awards; and Song Sun-seob, a holder of pansori and National Intangible Cutural Heritage No. 5.The series also features an in-depth interview with Do Jonghwan, Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, on the significance, visions and future plans for cultural interaction between Korea and China.
