Iran is a country blessed with world-class human capital and rich natural resources – number 2 in natural gas reserves and number 4 in oil reserves with a population of 80 million. This country had been isolated from the rest of the world for many decades until a nuclear agreement was reached in 2015. Along with its reentry in the global economy, Iranians are reaching out to the world, in hopes of achieving the target of 8% average annual growth over the next five years.
Based on trust and respect, Iran and South Korea have been maintaining a very tight friendship since establishing diplomatic relations in 1962. The first part of the series highlights the rising power of Iranian taekwondo, the popularity of Korean popular culture in Iran, fueled by K-dramas and K-pop, and strong cultural ties between Iran and South Korea.
