South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol, U.S. President Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida met on the sidelines of a NATO summit in Madrid as Biden bids to improve frosty ties between the two major U.S. allies.
"Our trilateral cooperation, in my view, is essential to achieving our shared objective, including a complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and a free and open Indo-Pacific.
"North Korea's nuclear and missile threats continue to evolve, and the global landscape is facing increased uncertainties, thereby rendering our trilateral partnership all the more significant.

The previous day Yoon and Kishida spoke albeit for a few minutes for the first time at the dinner hoste King Felipe of Spain - a rare conversation between countries often at loggerheads over their sharec.. histrory who have not had a formal summit since 2019.
The two also rubbed shoulders at the first four-way meeting with their ciunterparts from Australia and New Zealand dubbed AP4 at which the four Asia Pacific leaders agreed that security in the Europe the Indo-Pacific cannot be separated.
Seoul's top office officals cautiosly forecast a recovery in ties with Tokyo as they say they've witnessed the desire in both this time in Madrid to improve the relations between the neighbore countries.
