Asia recorded its hottest year on record in 2020 and research shows the extreme weather is taking a toll on development across the continent.
According to the UN's weather agency on Tuesday, the mean temperature in Asia in 2020 was almost one.four degrees Celsius above the 1981 to 2010 average.
It added the extreme weather killed thousands of people, displaced millions more and cost economies hundreds of billions of dollars.
South Korea suffered an estimated economic loss of 24 billion U.S. dollars.
China suffered Asia's biggest loss at 238 billion dollars.
