N. Korea's nuclear activities continue to expand, creating hurdles for verification: IAEA chief Updated: 2021-10-22 13:32:30 KST

The UN watchdog says that North Korea's nuclear activities have expanded over the years and continue to move forward, creating hurdles for verification and safeguard efforts.
The director-general of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, said in a webinar on Thursday the North's nuclear program is no longer (quote)"compound."
Pointing out that the regime could be working on every possible, imaginable area that it has at its disposal, including uranium enrichment, Grossi noted that nuclear reactors in the North have been restarted.
The IAEA chief also stressed the need for diplomatic engagement with Pyeongyang as well as a diplomatic process to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula.
