Mark, South Korea reported 1,7-hundred-16 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday of which all but 18 were locally transmitted.
This is low compared to other Thursdays but experts say this is because of slowed testing over the holiday period.
Today's number is high for other days that reflect weekend testing numbers which concerns the authorities as the holiday period saw massive movement throughout the country.
Experts are forecasting that the effects of that will start to show next week meaning the number of cases is very likely to rise.
The most worrisome aspect is that almost 80 percent of the new cases came from the capital area.
The R-naught number for the Seoul area has been gradually rising and now stands at 1.0-3.
The R-naught number helps predict the expected number of cases from exposure to a single case.
So if it's above one it means the spread could be speeding up
The number for the rest of the country stood at 0.9.
