A volcano has erupted on the Spanish Canary Island of La Palma.
Lava shot into the air, streaming in rivers towards houses in two villages from the Cumbre Vieja national park.
Before the eruption at 3.15pm local time on Sunday, authorities evacuated residents.
Canary Islands President, Angel Victor Torres said 5-thousand people were evacuated, and there were no injuries.
Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, arrived in La Palma late on Sunday for talks on managing the eruption.
Video footage showed rivers of molten rock pouring down, tearing into woods and farmland.
Some experts speculate the volcano has spewed out 17-20 million cubic meters of lava.
Flights to and from the Canaries are continuing as normal.
La Palma had been on high alert after more than 22-thousand tremors were reported in the space of a week.
