South Korea confirms 1,433 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday Updated: 2021-09-13 09:44:52 KST

We now turn to the COVID-19 situation in South Korea
Monday's caseload is usually lower than the rest of the week due to fewer tests over the weekend.
However, authorities remain on the alert as we edge closer to a national holiday next week.
For more, our Kim Do-yeon is at the News Center.
Do-yeon it seems like the situation in the bustling capital region getting worse, not better.

Mark, that's right, even though it's a Monday, and the daily caseload does dip compared to other days a surge in capital region was still clear.
In fact, the region reported 11-hundred new local transmissions on Monday about 78-percentage of the total.
Take a listen to what the Minister of Health and Welfare, Kwon Deok-cheol had to say on Sunday.

"Last week's average daily caseload for the capital region was 1,234, breaking the record again and is still on the rise. We're worried as there's only a week to go until the Chuseok holiday and the spread may spread again from the capital region to the rest of the nation."

In terms of the whole nation the total number of cases stands at 1,433 and 24 were imported transmissions.
The number is up 58 from the same period last week.
