South Korea reported 1,865 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, raising the total caseload to over 271-thousand.
All but 49 were locally transmitted.
Seoul and its surrounding areas continue to battle the spread of covid, and just under 75-percent of total new cases came from capital regions.
As for vaccinations, almost 64 percent of the total population in Korea have received their first vaccine shots.
Health authorities are speeding up vaccinations to meet the goal of having 70-percent receive their first dose before the national Chuseok Holiday, with less than 3.8 million to go.
