South Korea is providing 1.2 million U.S. dollars in aid to African countries suffering from hunger.
The UN World Food Programme announced Monday that Seoul's foreign ministry has decided to give funds to Nigeria, South Sudan, Madagascar, Burkina Faso and Ethiopia.
The WFP Regional Director for Southern Africa showed appreciation saying the number of people on the verge of starvation is likely to double when the lean season begins in October.
According to the WFP the fund will help boost humanitarian efforts for vulnerable communities in those five countries.
