N. Korea resumes in-person diplomacy with Russia Updated: 2021-08-04 17:14:13 KST

After a period of suspension due to the coronavirus, it now appears North Korea has resumed in-person diplomacy not only with China, but also Russia.
The North's state-run Korean Central News Agency showed on Wednesday a photo exhibition held by the Russian Embassy in Pyeongyang with North Korea's senior diplomat Im Chon-il and Russian Ambassador to North Korea Alexander Matsegora present.
It reported the event was to mark the 20th anniversary of the late Kim Jong-il's historic visit to Russia and the 10th anniversary of his visit to the Siberian and the Far Eastern regions.
The report added the exhibition is to highlight Pyeongyang-Moscow relations deemed essential for the peace and security of the region.
In June, North Korea sent diplomats to a similar photo exhibition held at the Chinese Embassy in Pyeongyang.
