Six months since Myanmar's military coup Updated: 2021-08-02 09:26:14 KST

Sunday marked six months since the start of the military coup in Myanmar, and since then at least 940 citizens have been killed.
According to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners, more than 5,400 people have been detained, and arrest warrants for nearly 2-thousand people have been issued.
The UN adds that more than 200-thousand people have been displaced.
Meanwhile, Myanmar's military leader declared himself prime minister on Sunday, saying the country will be under the extended state of emergency until elections are held in about two years.
