Cold spells to linger into the morning...dry alerts expanded to more regions Updated: 2021-02-23 16:33:42 KST

All cold wave alerts are now lifted here in South Korea, but chilly conditions will continue through tomorrow.
Let's turn to our Lee Seung-min at the Weather Center.
Seung-min, amid the chilly weather, dry conditions are also intensifying?

Well, Conn-young. The nation is being gripped by the last cold snap of the season. Although temperatures are near the seasonal norms, the weather feels a bit colder than the actual readings due to the mild weather we've been having. The cold spell will start to ease off tomorrow daytime.

Meanwhile, dry conditions are worsening. As you can see, advisories have been expanded to more regions and almost half of the nation is under dry alerts. Dry and windy weather can easily create tinder dry crops and residue in forests. This increases the risk of accidental wildfires, so please be extra cautious.

Morning lows in Seoul and Daejeon will start off at minus 4 degrees Celsius.

The daytime will be about 3 to 4 degrees warmer than today. Seoul will reach 9 degrees. Daejeon 11 degrees, Gwangju and Daegu 12 degrees.

Nationwide rain is in forecast on Thursday. Until the rain comes, the nation will stay under dry spells.

When the weather is dry and cold, our bodies need more fluid than usual. Please make sure to drink plenty of water and keep yourselves hydrated.

That's all for now, and here are the weather conditions around the world.
