South Korea and Japan will reportedly hold director general-level talks as early as this week, to discuss a recent court ruling on compensating the Korean victims of Japan's wartime sex slavery.
According to Japan's Kyodo News, South Korean foreign ministry's director-general for Asian and Pacific affairs Kim Jung-han will hold a videoconference with his Japanese counterpart Takehiro Funakoshi.
If it goes ahead, it will be the first meeting of its type between Seoul and Tokyo since October.
Last week, a court in Seoul ordered the Japanese government to compensate 12 Korean victims of Japan's wartime 'comfort women' system, sparking a furious protest from Tokyo.
