WFP says additional US$ 20 mil. needed to maintain current food assistance to N. Korea Updated: 2019-06-26 07:00:54 KST

The World Food Programme says it needs an extra 20 million U.S. dollars to maintain its food support to North Korea through November.
The WFP says it secured a less than 30 million dollars of funding until May, just over half the total requirement for 2019.
The money is used for food, shipping and other expenditures.
According to its latest report, the WFP helped around 610-thousand North Koreans last month.
However, international sanctions had the unintended consequence of delaying aid deliveries.
The WFP says 40 percent of North Korea's population suffers from food shortages.
