S. Korea, China, Japan devising policies to boost eco-friendly car production: Report Updated: 2019-06-13 13:12:13 KST

South Korea, China and Japan are reportedly drawing up measures to encourage the production of more eco-friendly vehicles, such as electric cars.
Seoul-based Yonhap News Agency cites sources saying South Korea and China will penalize local firms that don't manufacture as many electric vehicles as their respective governments recommend.
The South Korean government is in talks with local automakers to determine what penalty to impose, while China is expected to fine companies that don't meet the requirements.
Japan is recommending that local carmakers increase their average fuel efficiency by 32 percent and is urging them to produce more electric vehicles.
