The Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency successfully launched its Epsilon 4 rocket with seven satellites from its Uchinoura Space Center on Friday.
The country's first rocket that can carry multiple satellites, successfully placed its largest satellite into orbit.
The remaining 6 satellites are scheduled to be released one by one.
The rocket launch costing approximately 50 million US dollars is part of efforts to promote private-sector space exploration.
The satellites, developed by universities and the private sector, will conduct various experiments with one of them testing ways to create artificial meteor showers.
