Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas caused uproar on Tuesday by saying Israel was responsible for "50 Holocausts".
He made the comments at a joint press conference in Berlin with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Abbas used the word "Holocaust" when saying that Israel had committed massacres against Palestinian residents.
He was responding to a question about whether he would apologize for the massacre of 11 Israeli athletes and coaches and a German police officer by Palestinian militants at the 1972 Munich Olympics
Scholz has criticized Abbas' statement, saying on Wednesday that for Germans, making comparisons to the holocaust is unacceptable.
