S. Korea added 830,000 new jobs in July amid slowing job growth Updated: 2022-08-10 13:47:06 KST

South Korea reported a rise in employment in July for a 17th month in a row.
According to Statistics Korea, nearly 28.5 million people were working last month for an on-year increase of 826-thousand.
This is the highest for any July since data were first compiled in 1989.
But because of economic uncertainties, the increase slowed down for a second consecutive month.
Growth was led by the manufacturing sector, with an on-year increase of 176-thousand jobs, followed by the health and social welfare services and ICT.
The unemployment rate fell zero.3 percentage points to 2.9 percent, the first time it's been below 3 percent since the Asian Financial Crisis in the late 1990s
