Six American F-35A stealth fighter jets arrived in South Korea today for joint training.
It's the first time the American F-35s have been here in five years.
The South Korean defense ministry said the drills will run for 10 days through next Thursday, and will demonstrate the allies' strengthened deterrence.
U.S. Forces Korea said the F-35s will fly with several different kinds of South Korean planes, including Seoul's own F-35s.
It said these flights on and around the Korean Peninsula are for "familiarization and routine training" that will enhance the operational capabilities of the two air forces.
