Yoon discusses semiconductors, nuclear power plants, weapons exports on NATO sidelines Updated: 2022-06-29 15:02:46 KST

On Wednesday morning, local time in Madrid, President Yoon Suk-yeol met with his Dutch counterpart Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
The two had reaffirmed their willingness to expand cooperation on semiconductors the industry the two countries are currently leading on the global stage.
President Yoon called for investment from Dutch chip makers like ASML in South Korea and to stabilize the supply of semiconductor components for domestic firms.
The Dutch PM complimented the effective partnership the two countries have already built up.
They also touched upon potential cooperation on nuclear power with Netherlands being a potential buyer of South Korean plants.
And the two leaders came together on a hardline response to North Korea's increasing missile and nuclear threats.

The meeting was followed by Yoon's sitdown with Spain's King Felipe-the-sixth.
Much attention is on Yoon's following meeting in the eveningwith the president of Poland… with discussions to be focused on nuclear power exports.
Senior Presidential Secretary for Economic Affairs, Choi Sang-mok, had previously said South Korea will go all in to win orders for nuclear power plants in Poland and the Czech Republic where deals are imminent.
South Korea with Yoon taking office is rebuilding the country's nuclear power industry after a five-year halt under the previous administration's nuclear-phase out policy.
Up next - a meeting with the leader of Denmark hydrogen power will likely to be discussed.
