The chairman and CEO of Hyundai Development Company, Chung Mong-Gyu, has offered to resign, saying he takes full responsibility for last week's collapse of a building under construction in the city of Gwangju.
The accident left at least one worker dead, and five others missing.
In a press conference on Monday, Chung apologized to the victims, their families and the public.
It was HDC's second deadly accident in less than a year.
Chung said the company plans to tear down and rebuild the 39-story apartment building if the investigation now underway finds safety issues.
Six months ago, an HDC building collapsed onto a bus and killed nine people.
