National Health Insurance premium to increase starting July next year for those with additional income exceeding 17 thousand dollars a year Updated: 2021-12-09 16:39:39 KST

Starting in the second half of next year, national health insurance premiums will increase for those that also have additional sources of income other than their salary.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare and the National Health Insurance Service announced Thursday that this move comes as part of efforts to reorganize income-based national health insurance payments.
From July of next year, premiums paid on extra income from investments or real estate holdings will be applied to additional earnings above around 17-thousand dollars per year.
Currently, higher premiums are applied to earnings above around 29-thousand dollars.
