President Moon Jae-in has ordered officials to keep close tabs on the economy and financial markets, noting growing global uncertainties caused by the pandemic.
Speaking at a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, he also called for efforts to address concerns related to logistics and the supply of raw materials.
The president also thanked lawmakers for passing next year's 5-hundred-15 billion U.S. dollar budget saying it will boost spending to provide customized support for the self-employed and for quarantine and medical efforts.
He asked for the public's understanding when it comes to tightened COVID-19 restrictions emphasizing the next four weeks will be crucial.
He also stressed the need for vaccinated people to get booster shots and to speed up inoculations for teenagers.
