And there have been three more cases confirmed to be the Omicron variant, with a total of 9 patients reported so far.
With the surging cases, the country is returning to stricter disease prevention measures for four weeks starting from Monday.
The social gathering capacity will be reduced and only fully vaccinated people or those who have proof of a negative PCR test will be allowed to go into restaurants, cafes, and a number of other public facilities.
