A massive 7.5 magnitude earthquake shook the remote Amazon region of northern Peru on Sunday, with tremors being felt as far away as Lima.
While the earthquake caused damage to homes near the epicenter, no casualties have been reported.
Some residents left their homes as a precaution, while local news reports showed houses and buildings destroyed during the quake.
According to the National Institute of Civil Defense, a total of 220 homes were affected, with 81 uninhabitable, while 75 were completed destroyed.
Seven places of religious worship, including a 400 year old church were damaged.
Peruvian President Pedro Castillo says he has ordered the immediate deployment of support personnel, as he headed to the impacted regions via a military plane.
