Blue House expresses regret that ex-president Chun Doo-hwan died without making sincere apology Updated: 2021-11-23 17:05:50 KST

South Korea's top office has expressed condolences over the death of ex-president Chun Doo-hwan, but said it was regretful that he didn't make a sincere apology for the bloody crackdown on pro-democracy demonstrators in Gwangju in 1980.
The Blue House said Tuesday that Chun failed to reveal the truth of history up to the end.
It has no plans to send flowers or give condolences in person, either.
The president's office said it prays for the soul of the deceased and offered words of comfort to the family members of the bereaved.
