Marking Farmer's Day on Thursday, President Moon Jae-in thanked the nation's farmers for their hard work.
Taking to social media he said this year South Korea saw more than a 10 percent increase in exports of agricultural goods compared to the year before and that Korean food is trending globally.
He added that as issues like climate change are affecting the industry, the government will do its best to support farmers.
In December, a second round of general plans for supporting people returning to farming or rural areas will be established, which will depend on demand and the nature of the move.
In terms of carbon neutrality plans, the country will build eco-friendly farming areas and foster a clean livestock production environment.
Additionally, the government will support sustainable development of the farming industry through technology and generate enough agricultural jobs for the next generation.
