EU's drug regulator says booster dose of Moderna vaccine may be given to people aged 18 and above Updated: 2021-10-26 19:58:18 KST

The EU's drug regulator has said that a booster dose of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine "can be considered" for people aged 18 and above.
The European Medicines Agency said Monday local time that the booster shot may be given at least six months after the second dose.
This is the second COVID-19 booster vaccine to be approved by the EU, following its approval of the Pfizer vaccine earlier this month.
The EMA said data suggests that the side effects are similar to what is seen following the second dose of Moderna vaccine, which includes temporary heart and chest inflammation in a small number of people.
