Moon's meeting with Pope an opportunity for Korean Peninsula peace process: Unification ministry Updated: 2021-10-25 17:06:54 KST

Seoul's unification ministry has voiced hope that President Moon Jae-in's meeting with Pope Francis this week will be an opportunity for broader discussions on the Korean Peninsula peace process.
The ministry's spokesperson, Lee Jong-joo, made the statement today when asked if South Korea will request the pope's early visit to North Korea during the meeting.
She added that IF Pope Francis was to visit North Korea, it would greatly contribute to establishing peace on the Korean Peninsula.
President Moon is set to meet with Pope Francis on Friday in Rome, where he is scheduled to attend the Group of 20 Leaders' Summit before traveling to Glasgow to join a UN climate change conference next week.
