U.S. envoy for N. Korea urges regime to cease provocations, engage in dialogue Updated: 2021-10-24 09:36:03 KST

The U.S. envoy for North Korea, Sung Kim, has urged North Korea to stop what he called its provocations and other destabilizing actions and instead engage in dialogue.
Kim met in Seoul on Sunday with his South Korean counterpart Noh Kyu-duk, and afterwards, speaking to reporters, Kim once again reiterated that Washington has no hostile intent toward the regime and voiced hope that the North will respond positively to U.S. outreach.
Kim said the U.S. is prepared to work with Pyeongyang to provide humanitarian aid and that Seoul and Washington will continue to pursue common goals and ideas including declaring a formal end to the Korean War.
Also speaking to reporters, South Korea's chief nuclear envoy, Noh Kyu-duk, said that the two countries once again reaffirmed their common recognition for the need of dialogue and diplomacy to secure permanent peace and denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula.
Noh also said that he and Kim spoke in-depth about the proposed end-of-war declaration.
