Gyeonggi-do Province governor Lee Jae-myung has been nominated as the ruling Democratic Party's presidential candidate, after winning the majority of votes in primaries at 50.29 percent.
In the last regional primary held in Seoul on Sunday -- Lee won 51.45 percent of votes by party members, continuing his dominant lead from the previous primaries.
In the final round of online votes open to the general public the results of which were also released on the day, Lee won 28.3 percent, far behind runner-up Lee Nak-yon's 62.37 percent.
But based on the accumulated votes, governor Lee managed to stamp his ticket for the presidential race, winning slightly more than a majority.
The runner-up and former Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon came in with a total of 39.14 percent of votes.
