S. Korea reports 2,028 cases of COVID-19 on Wed.; breakthrough cases above 20% Updated: 2021-10-06 14:29:42 KST

The number of coronavirus cases reported in South Korea on Wednesday was back above two-thousand due to a post-holiday surge.
Two,28 new cases, to be precise, of which 26 were locally transmitted.
The country has had more than 323-thousand since the pandemic began.
Of today's local cases, more than 75 percent were in the Greater Seoul area.
As for the vaccine campaign, more than half of the total population in Korea has been fully vaccinated.
But the authorities note that so-called breakthrough cases are accounting for more than 20 percent of the daily total.
