S. Korea confirmed 2,564 new cases of COVID-19 as Thursday Updated: 2021-09-30 15:16:34 KST

South Korea reported 2,5-hundred-64 new COVID-19 cases of which all but 25 were locally transmitted.
On a positive note this is down 321 cases from 24 hours before, but it's still too early for the authorities to call it a downward trend.
It is still the highest number reported on a Thursday, and as many know by now Thursdays are usually the day of the week when high infection figures are reported.
Thursday's figure also continues a week-long trend of a new record being set for infections on that day of the week.
Authorities are being kept on their toes ahead of two more consecutive long weekends, starting this weekend which could again prompt massive movement and lead to more infections.
