Japan is set to finally end its COVID-19 state of emergency.
NHK News reported that Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga officially announced that he would not extend the state of emergency set to expire on Thursday.
This will be the first time since April that all emergency measures will be lifted.
Quarantine measures for inbound travelers and restrictions on restaurants from selling alcohol are expected to be eased.
But, the Prime Minister said the process will be done gradually in phases, to avoid another uptick in cases.
