During an interview with ABC on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly this week, President Moon Jae-in and South Korean boyband BTS sent a message of hope and unity.
The President said BTS' song 'Permission to Dance' sends a message of togetherness to people around the world that overcomes differences.
He demonstrated part of the BTS music video dance, shaking his hands up and down with both thumbs up, in a gesture meaning 'joy' in international sign language.
He added BTS' message has a much stronger impact on the younger generation than his or the UN Secretary General's.
As a special envoy, BTS gave their speech at the UN SDG Moment 2021 with Moon.
BTS member Jung Kook said he couldn't believe that he spoke and performed at the UN, adding he felt like time had stopped for a moment.
