President Moon Jae-in says that his participation in the G7 summit in the UK this coming weekend will be a chance to upgrade South Korea's diplomacy.
Chairing a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Moon said that South Korea's invitation to the G7 shows how not only the country's economy but also its soft power is getting high marks.
He said he will focus on emphasizing the country's role as a global vaccine hub and as a bridge between developing and developed countries in tackling climate change.
The G7 summit takes place from this Friday to Sunday.
The President also asked his Cabinet to use tax revenue to fund a supplementary budget plan to help reduce inequality and boost employment.
