Former French president Nicolas Sarkozy has been sentenced to three years in prison, after being found guilty of corruption and influence-peddling.
The court's ruling Monday makes Sarkozy the second former leader in modern-day France to be convicted of corruption.
Sarkozy, who was president from 2007 to 2012, was found guilty of offering a cozy position in Monaco to a judge in exchange for inside information on an inquiry into his campaign finances.
His lawyer said Sarkozy would appeal the verdict.
