President Moon Jae-in made a statement today on social media to honor the UN veterans of the Korean War, pledging to honor their sacrifices by making sure South Korea is peaceful and prosperous.
This was to mark the International Memorial Day for UN Korean War Veterans, a statuatory observance declared by South Korea for the first time this year.
Moon said he prays for the souls of those who sacrificed their lives for freedom and peace.
A ceremony was held at the UN Memorial Cemetery in Busan with a minute of silence at 11 AM.
23-hundred soldiers from 11 nations who died during the Korean War are buried there.
