NASA has selected Nokia to build the first mobile network on the moon.
This is part of NASA's program to send astronauts to the moon by 2024 and build long-term settlements there.
Nokia said on Monday that the lunar surface would be equipped with a wireless communications system in late 2022.
It added that it will establish a 4G LTE network system in space, but the final goal is to eventually switch this to 5G.
This will allow astronauts to make voice and video communications, exchange data, and remotely control robotic devices.
