South Korea has decided to extend the strengthened distancing measures in provinces outside the greater Seoul area.
"Considering the fact that the Chuseok holiday is approaching in a week, easing distancing measures will only cause chaos and increase the possibility of an outbreak. We decided to extend the current level 2 distancing measures even in provinces outside the capital region until next Sunday."
During the holiday season, people tend to travel across the country to visit their families and this might result in a surge of more COVID-19 cases.
The government also said that it would impose strengthened disinfection measures nationwide, starting from September 28th to October 11th.
