Abe reiterates call for unconditional meeting with N. Korea's Kim Jong-un Updated: 2020-05-08 10:27:28 KST

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has reiterated his will to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
Asked about meeting with the regime's leader by Sankei Shimbun newspaper on Friday, Abe said he remains unchanged in holding a meeting with Kim with no preconditions.
He said that, despite battling the coronavirus outbreak, he will not neglect handling the issue of Japanese nationals abducted by North Korea in the 1970s and 1980s.
Pyeongyang, in the past, has ignored repeated calls from Tokyo to handle the issue, saying there isn't any abduction issue that needs to be addressed.
